Ongoing Advocacy – AAPA Continues to Push for Infrastructure Funding

As the U.S. Congress considers major infrastructure legislation, AAPA has continued advocating on behalf of member ports. AAPA’s message to Congress is that ports are ready to begin making vital improvements as soon as the necessary funding is available. AAPA’s coordinated social media campaign urges Congress to pass infrastructure legislation – including robust funding for port modernization – which will support America’s growth and prosperity.

AAPA has sent several letters to Congress outlining the needs of the port industry. The most recent letters have focused on the ‘reconciliation’ bill currently being developed. These letters (House letterSenate letter) detail why immediate and substantial funding for ports is critical in order to build 21st century American infrastructure. While the House plans for a vote in September, now is the time for members to remind their Congressional Delegations that ports have various, indispensable projects that would highly benefit from increased infrastructure investment.
