As sustainability assumes a more prominent place in just about every port’s vision of its future, master planning and other strategic planning efforts increasingly are ensuring infrastructure proposals are closely aligned with ports’ sustainability needs.

For ports, looking ahead is a serious business. They have to build enough flexibility into their long-term planning and preparations to be ready for a variety of possible scenarios – and not just build for the moment.
