Next week, AAPA’s ACCELerate Apprenticeship is celebrating the 2023 National Apprenticeship Week (NAW), a nationwide celebration established by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) where employers, industry associations, labor organizations, community-based organizations, workforce partners, education providers, and government leaders showcase the successes and value of Registered Apprenticeship.
This year’s NAW theme, Registered Apprenticeship: Superhighway to Good Jobs, reflects the Registered Apprenticeship prominence as a proven, industry-driven training model that expedites the pathway into good jobs and improves diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in the workplace. The ACCELerate Apprenticeship embraces this theme every day as it works hard to expand apprenticeship within transportation-related industries that include ports, logistics, maritime, aviation, and technology. For more information, visit the U.S. DOL National Apprenticeship Week website.
AAPA’s ACCELerate Apprenticeship is part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Closing the Skills Gap (CSG) grant program to promote apprenticeships as a significant workforce solution in filling current job vacancies and closing the skills gap between employer workforce needs and the skills of the current workforce. ACCELerate was specifically funded by U.S. DOL to help ports, multimodal transportation, distribution and logistics (TDL) and TDL-connected supply chain employers develop new or expanded apprenticeship programs. It serves a wide scope of employers including those operating in aviation, aerospace, cybersecurity and IT, energy distribution, facilities security, ports, rail, shipbuilding and repair, third party logistics (3PL), and warehousing and distribution.
