MARAD to Hold Decarbonization Panel in Honor of National Maritime Day, May 23
On Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. ET, the Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) is holding a panel called “Maritime Decarbonization: It’s Complicated” in honor of National Maritime Day (Sunday, May 22). The event will focus on the challenges of decarbonizing the U.S. maritime industry and identifying how the public and private sectors can better collaborate across multiple components of each sector. Acting Administrator Lucinda Lessley will host the event and Michael Carter, associate administrator at Office of Environment and Compliance, will moderate. Panelists include Kathy Metcalf of Chamber of Shipping of America, Andrew Wishnia of Department of Transportation’s Office of the Secretary of Transportation, Ian Gansler of American Association of Port Authorities, and Ingrid Irigoyen of Aspen Institute.
