AAPA Welcomes Bethann Rooney of PANYNJ to Board of Directors
The American Association of Port Authorities announced that Bethann Rooney, Port Director at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has joined its Board of Directors, representing the Max Dues payer category of port members. Rooney brings more than three decades of experience at PANYNJ, where she has held progressively senior roles since 1993, and is the architect of the Port of New York and New Jersey’s Council on Port Performance, the first forum of its kind in the United States. Earlier in her career, she served as the agency’s first-ever manager of port security, a position to which she was appointed one day after the September 11 attacks and held for more than 13 years.
“Bethann is one of the most experienced and talented port leaders in the country, and it’s an absolute pleasure to have her join the Board of Directors,” stated AAPA President and CEO Sang Yi.
